RacingROCKS brings festival vibe to Rockingham

BRITISH GT driver Rick Parfitt Jnr return to Rockingham this weekend (May17/18) is sure to get the crowd rocking.

Rick Parfitt Jnr and his legendary RPJ Band will be among 50 music acts performing at the first RacingROCKS event to be staged at the Northamptonshire circuit.

Bringing a festival vibe to the British Racing Sports Car Club (BRSCC) saloon & sportscar race meeting, RacingROCKS will blend the worlds of motorsport, music and food & drink to create a unique event.

The RPJ Band will headline on the Saturday evening, supported by Gonzo, Army of One and Diamond Mindworks. On Sunday, it’s the turn of band of the year - Somewhat Unprepared, who’ll be joined on the main stage by Violet Bones, Circle of Reason and Waltzer.

Throughout the two days there will be live music from a mix of up-and-coming bands and established acts on the Acoustic Stage including, Nikki Loy, Brad Dear, Ben Miles and Mike Ward, who was a finalist on the first series of BBC1's The Voice.

At the food & drink fair acclaimed street chefs and micro-breweries will be offering visitors the opportunity to sample a selection of delicious and mouth-watering delights with more than 40 real beers & ciders to choose from. There will also be wine, cocktail and Champagne bars.

There will be plenty to keep the younger members of the family entertained, and to continue the festival theme, a special camping area has been set up for those wishing to make the most of the weekend.

On track there will be qualifying and racing from nine different championships including the first visit of the 2014 season for the Pickup Trucks – a firm favourite with the Rockingham crowd.

Not for the faint hearted, the championship brings its own unique brand of racing with the trucks thundering around the UK's only banked Oval and Europe's fastest racing circuit at speeds of 150mph.

The rest of the action takes place on the International Super Sportscar Circuit, which will include the eclectic mix of racing machines from the Arrowpak Saloon & Sports cars while the BRSCC Formula Jedi will represent the single-seaters.

Adult tickets cost just £39 for a single day or £69 for a weekend pass. Children aged 16 and under get in free. Advance tickets can be purchased online at www.rockingham.co.uk or via the ticket hotline on 01536 500500, option 1.

Tickets will also be available to purchase on the day. Gates open at 08:00 with qualifying and racing from 09:00 until 18:00. Music performances will continue to 23:00 on Saturday and 20:00 Sunday.

As always at Rockingham all tickets include access to a grandstand seat, pit garage roof and race paddock, which means there are no hidden costs.
