Barcelona next stop for Buggy Experience in Spanish GT

Javier Ibrán approaches his next commitment at the wheel of the Buggy Experience Racing Team Ginetta G55 GT4. The event takes place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and Ibrán, who finished 3rd in the Spanish GT classification in Navarra, takes part solo in the 2-hour race.

The Catalan track hosts the second meeting of the Spanish GT Championship and Michelin Endurance Series and, in addition, the season opener for the Spanish Endurance Championship. So it is going to be an absolutely demanding weekend for Buggy Experience Racing Team and its Ginetta G55 GT4 that, as a novelty in Barcelona, will be driven by Javier Ibrán alone. Ibrán, an experienced GT driver born in Valencia, finished third at Circuito de Navarra last month, a brilliant podium on his debut with the car teaming up with Matthijs Bakker. Now, he faces a two-hour race alone, another challenge in his career.

“After some minor problems in the car, logical because we haven´t carried out tests in pre-season, it looks like finally we were able to find the problem. After our check down at Calafat track, our team has solved everything and the Ginetta is now at  100%”, Ibrán explains, adding that “I very much hope therefore this meeting is going to be really good for us, even when there are three different championships: CER, MES and GT. I think our car is competitive but it is a shame we couldn´t test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya before, as it is one of my favorite tracks, we want to demonstrate our progress over the last month”.

The timetable is slightly different in Barcelona. Unlike other race meetings, technical scrutineering and administrative checking take place on Saturday. Then on Sunday qualifying session is scheduled at 10.25, meanwhile the race is due to start at 13.00 and finish two hours later.
