Jordan ready for World Rallycross debut‏

Andrew Jordan says he can’t wait to contest the British round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship at Lydden Hill (24/25 May) but reckons it will be incredibly tough to even get to the final.Andrew, who first made his name in rallycross, won the 2007 British Rallycross Supercar title, and will now return to the sport in a state-of-the-art Ford Fiesta rallycross car from the Olsbergs MSE teamOver recent times, rallycross has enjoyed a massive boost in profile and popularity and a sensational field of Super Cars will gather at the Kent track over the Bank Holiday weekend. The current BTCC points’ leader, who will celebrate his 25th birthday on the Saturday of the weekend, knows that he faces a very tough challenge. “There are 37 Super Cars and it’s going to be tough competing against the regular guys,” said Andrew. “It would be like coming into the BTCC and competing against the drivers who are doing it all the time. People like Petter Solberg are on the top of their game.”Although he expects to have good pace, Andrew is realistic about his ambitions for the event. “I had a test at Lydden a few weeks ago and it is the same car I tested last year. We went well at the test compared to last year’s time, but you just don’t know where everyone else is now. The regular team drivers were second and third in the first round, so the cars are competitive. If I could get into the final I would see that as a very good day, because that’s the top six of the weekend. On pace I think we could do it, but there are a lot of variables like the joker lap, which I’ve never done. I’m very inexperienced at that level of rallycross.”Whatever happens he is keen to enjoy the weekend, which takes him away from the pressures of defending his BTCC crown. “In the BTCC, we’re now expected to do well but the rallycross will be relatively little pressure for me, because no one will expect me to be up there.“I’m looking forward to working with Andreas and the team: they are very impressive. It’s great to be doing it at my home race and I think it’s going to be a very big event. I can’t wait: I’m really looking forward to it. I’d like to do more if it fits around the BTCC.”As a Ford technical partner, OMSE has been instrumental in developing the Ford Fiesta platform for international competition. Together, Ford and OMSE have earned 19 X Games medals. The team has also won every rallycross championship title in the United States since the sport debuted there in 2010. Notable drivers who have competed with OMSE in the past five years include Toomas Heikkinen, Marcus Gronholm, Patrik Sandell, Kenny Brack and Tanner Foust.
