De Vries Against All In F.Renault 2.0 Alps Austrian Red Bull Ring Venue

Third out of season’s seven rounds, this weekend (24/25 May) Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS, will be back on track on the up and down hill circuit of Red Bull Ring. After having debuted in Imola and raced two weeks ago on the historic street circuit of Pau, the Fast Lane Promotion Series reserved to the 2 liters single seaters will be back on the Styrian circuit after a two-year absence. On the same track that will host in one month the F1 Grand Prix.

For the Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS youngsters, the Austrian venue will thus represent an important challenge, also for the 4326 meters long layout of the circuit close to Spielberg. Among them Nyck de Vries, is willing for sure to keep the winning streak started in Imola at the beginning of April. The Dutch racing for Koiranen GP, already involved in the McLaren Young Driver Programme, has scores four wins so far and is obviously the Championship leader. Behind him the is the French Arta Engineering, driver Simon Gachet, three times on podium so far, and the English George Russell (de Vries team mate).

However other young talents emerged in Pau such as the Monaco driver Charles Leclerc, second overall in Race 2 on the best of the Fortec Motorsports car, and the very young Russian Matevos Isaakyan, who instead managed second in Race 1 in his debuting race with JD Motorsport. Watch out also for the Swiss Hugo De Sadeleer (Tech 1 Racing), who also scored hi first ever podium in the category. Ignazio D’Agosto (Koiranen GP) and Davide Cazzaniga (GSK Grand Prix) will make their debut.

The weekend will be articulated on a three days schedule. As usual Friday will be reserved for the free practices with two sessions of one hour each. Saturday it will be qualify time (all entrants will be splitted into two groups with the green light for the first group at 10.15). Race 1 is also set on Saturday (25’ plus a lap), with the start a 4.40pm. Race 2 is scheduled for Sunday at 13.00.
