Damian Cole will head a single campaign on the Scottish round of the Kwik-Fit Pirelli British Rally Championship. The O2 Get Connected! Team member will be without his team mate Dorian Rees who suffered retirement on the Mutiny National Rally and has had to withdraw from the Scottish Rally.
Cole will be heading to the Scottish Rally on 11th/12th June 2004, will again be partnered by Church Stretton co-driver, Phil Clarke. The Hereford based Welshman has had an engine rebuild since retirement on the Rally of Wales in his Subaru Impreza World Rally Car
Cole, a asphalt expert, has been learning and improving with every gravel rally contested and will again be looking for some improvement in Scotland.
"We had set a top ten stage time on only my third rally, that was also the first round of the championship, which was very encouraging. We were then beating Dorian after two stages in Wales, which I would not have thought possible until we reached the tarmac events in the championship. I would like to get to the finish with a good run and maybe a top ten placing."
Cole maybe stepping into unknown territory on the Scottish event, while many would be apprehensive ahead of this ongoing adventure, Damian has made a very professional approach to his campaign.
"The series has been great so far. We have surprised ourselves throughout. The fact that we are able to make out own pacenotes has certainly benefited our challenge. If it was off maps or using organisers notes, I feel it would be a different story, but it is not, so onwards and upwards with each mile we complete."
Damian and Phil will head out of Dumfries on Friday evening for the three stages before the overnight halt. They re-start early on Saturday with a full day of rallying before returning to Dumfries for the finish later in the evening.
