Swedish international Peter Ljung handed Swedish SGP wild card

Former FIM Speedway Grand Prix (SGP) regular and Swedish international Peter Ljung returns to the World Championship for one night only as the wild card for the Swedish SGP in Malilla on June 14.

The Aseda-born star dons the famous No.16 race jacket as the competition makes a welcome return to the sensational G&B Arena race track after a year’s absence.

Ljung races for Vastervik in the Swedish Elitserien and Rzeszow in the Polish First Division. He also had a stint with newly-promoted Leicester in the British Elite League this season.

The 31-year-old qualified for the 2012 FIM Speedway Grand Prix series and finished 15th overall, but will be determined to prove his class on his return in the Swedish forests, which play host to a festival of speedway and entertainment when the World Championship visits the area.

Ljung is joined in the meeting by track reserves Linus Sundstrom and Dennis Andersson, who don the No.17 and No.18 race jackets respectively.

Sundstrom scored a solid six points as the wild card in last year’s Swedish SGP at Gothenburg’s Ullevi Stadium, while Andersson has enjoyed a handful of track reserve appearances.

The referee for the Malilla showcase is Marek Wojaczek from Poland.

Tickets for the Swedish SGP on June 14 start at 330 SEK for adults and 105 SEK for children and are available from www.speedwaygp.com, www.biljettforum.se or by calling +46 771 130 150.
