EASTBOURNE secured maximum points over Swindon with a 54-37 victory at Arlington in the only domestic fixture to beat the weather on Saturday. Each member of the Eagles’ top five scored eight or nine points, but that was bettered by fast-track reserve Lewis Blackbird who picked up ten.The Robins were fighting a rearguard action without No.1 Peter Kildemand but ex-Eastbourne man Simon Gustafsson gave his best performance for his new club with a 15-point haul as Alun Rossiter’s side improved in the closing stages.Rossiter said: “We restored some pride in the final few heats which was really good to see, because it had been a tough night. The big positive was Simon’s performance because that’s the rider I signed in the winter.”(SPEEDWAY 2 – SUNDAY PREVIEW)

GLASGOW star Mark Lemon insists the Ashfield club must concentrate on their own job when record-breaking rivals Edinburgh arrive on Sunday. The Monarchs have dominated the clashes between the clubs in 2014 and have won all 13 of their matches in all competitions this season ahead of the Premier League fixture, whilst the Tigers were beaten at home by Workington in the League Cup last week.Lemon said: “You try not to think of the opposition so much - you want to work on your own game-plan and if you get that right, and the seven guys get that right, you're generally going to win the match.“We had a good group discussion in the pits after that (Workington) match, so everyone is buoyant about doing well and we've just got to put it on the track, that's all.”Rye House hand a debut to British Under-19 Champion Stefan Nielsen in their clash with Plymouth – with the Devils having incredibly won on their last three visits to Hoddesdon.Rockets boss John Sampford said: “The Devils have proven in their last three visits just how much they feel at home on our track, and Adam Roynon certainly also remembers the best way around our circuit.“But we showed what we are capable of with that incredible sixteen point swing across just seven races last Saturday. Edward Kennett, Steve Boxall and Jason Garrity are on fire at the moment, and the rest of the team can chip in the points too.”Meanwhile Newcastle bid to get back to winning ways after a recent tough run including last week’s home defeat against Redcar. The Diamonds face another tricky encounter at Brough Park with Ipswich providing the opposition – the Witches having underlined the competitiveness of the Premier League with their own away win at Redcar on Thursday.Mildenhall return to National League action after last week’s KO Cup defeat against Cradley, as they host Buxton at West Row, and chairman Kevin Jolly expects a full-strength side to put that recent disappointment behind them.Jolly said: “The lads need to stay positive and knuckle down and make sure we take full points on Sunday as we look to stay in play-off contention. I remain confident we have the team to go all the way this season and have every faith in the lads.”

WORKINGTON have released reserve Chris Mills - and plan to name a new signing in the coming days. The Comets’ management informed Mills of their decision at their rained-off Premier League. meeting at Berwick on Saturday.Club owner Laura Morgan said: “We have had to do one of the hardest jobs there is in speedway and that is to tell a rider he doesn't have a team place anymore. We told Chris that we have found it necessary to change the team to try and strengthen it for the remainder of the season.“As always from the beginning, when Chris joined the team, he was a gentleman to deal with and understood the reasons behind the change. We have found Chris to be professional and a delight to deal with, he will always be a friend of Workington Speedway and he is welcome back at Derwent Park anytime.”
