(SPEEDWAY 1 – TUESDAY REVIEW)
CRADLEY had three maximum men in their emphatic 65-27 home win over Kent in the National League on Tuesday.Steve Worrall picked up the full 18 points with six wins out of six, whilst Paul Starke and Max Clegg were also unbeaten by an opposing rider as the Heathens provided all 15 heat winners.Worrall said: “It was good tonight, I’ve got something that works quite well around here, and it looks like Starkey has too!“We’re feeling confident as a team and riding so often is really helping me as well. Hopefully we can carry it on, and I think I owe Starkey next week too, as he let me in for that last one!”
(SPEEDWAY 2 – WEDNESDAY PREVIEW)
BIRMINGHAM owner Alan Phillips is expecting a big response from supporters to welcome new Polish sensation Bartosz Zmarzlik to the club on Wednesday. The Brummies face Belle Vue at Perry Barr with Zmarzlik making his debut having signed as a replacement for the injured Adam Skornicki.Phillips said: “We cannot do any more than bring in one of the hottest properties in world speedway. We pulled this one out of the bag and the response has been brilliant.“He’s a great talent and we are proud and honoured to have him riding for us at Birmingham. Having said that, if the crowd don’t come in for the debut of Bartosz, plus the appearance of Finnish Grand Prix winner Matej Zagar with Belle Vue, then I will have to ask what more we can do.”Belle Vue boss Jason Attwood is desperate to see an upturn in away performances, with a draw at Wolverhampton over Easter being the Aces’ sole reward for their displays on the road so far.He said: “Our home form has totally turned around since last year, but because we aren't picking up enough points away we are putting more pressure on ourselves at home to get a maximum haul from our meetings. “It has now got to the stage where we just can't afford to be losing any more points away, it's simply not good enough.”Poole will be without Maciej Janowski for their home clash with Elite League leaders King’s Lynn at Wimborne Road.Janowski was taken ill prior to the Pirates’ postponed fixture at Leicester on Monday, and Lakeside’s Lewis Bridger has been booked to guest, whilst Kenneth Bjerre is due back from injury for the Stars.Poole boss Neil Middleditch said: “We are still a bit sore after letting a 12-point lead slip last week at home against Coventry and losing our unbeaten home record.“While we regained a point last Thursday at Lynn that really should have been a bonus and not part of a catch-up.”
(SPEEDWAY 3)
WORKINGTON have announced the signing of Simon Lambert as a replacement for Chris Mills, who was released at the weekend.Lambert, who was himself released by Rye House last week, comes into the Comets side as a straight replacement for Mills at reserve and will make his debut at one of his former tracks, Sheffield, in Thursday’s Premier League encounter.Comets owner Laura Morgan said: “Finding a replacement for Chris was never going to be easy as there aren't a lot of riders available who fit the bill. However, Simon became available at just the right time and we are certain that he can do a job for us and we are looking forward to welcoming him into the team at Sheffield on Thursday.“He will no doubt receive a rousing welcome from our home supporters when we take on Redcar at Derwent Park on Saturday.”(FIXTURES)
