Family pairings shine on BHRC
Family partnerships claimed second and third places in the historic category of round four of the 2004 Armajaro MSA British Historic Rally Championship, the Mutiny Rally on Saturday, 5 June.To mark their 27th wedding anniversary, Chris and Hilary Green took a class-winning second in their Lotus Cortina to maintain their 100% finishing record to date in 2004.Meanwhile, one place behind was the father and daughter pairing of Neil and Michelle Calvert in their Lotus Cortina. Only once before, back in 1997, had they competed together, as Michelle has since co-driven regularly for BHRC competitor Mike Barratt in his Mini Cooper S. But with Barratt away on his honeymoon, Michelle rejoined her father for the Mutiny. At the finish, they reported a good day without any domestic dramas! "She's taught me a thing or two today," reckoned Neil, after his first event in the Cortina this season. "He's been alright," admitted Michelle. "I've tried to put him right on a few things," she added, tongue firmly in cheek.Despite spending a lot of time working in the holiday industry in Tenerife, Neil plans to contest at least three of the remaining five BHRC events, including round five, the Mid-Wales Stages at the end of June. Michelle, meanwhile, will rejoin Barratt in the Mini.
