Faulkner returns to Carrera Cup
Damien Faulkner will return to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Mondello Park (12/13 June). The Irish racer will join Motorbase Performance for rounds nine and ten of the championship at his home track. Faulkner will join the SAS International-backed cars of Andy and Gary Britnell for the weekend. "Our major sponsor comes from close to Mondello, so we've called up Damien for the weekend," explains team boss David Bartrum on the expansion to a three-car squad for the Irish weekend."Finally I've come back," says Faulkner, who won both Carrera Cup races at Mondello in April 2003 when driving the VIP car entered by Porsche Cars GB. "I'm absolutely looking forward to it. It's not for the want of trying that I've not been racing much this year," says Faulkner. "I will only get to test on Friday afternoon, so I'll just have to rely on my experience from last year's races."Faulkner, who competed at Sebring in March with Team Elite, is determined to make a good showing against the current championship pacesetters. "I'm not even sure who's leading the championship at the moment, but I expect to be up there. I'm absolutely chuffed!"Meanwhile, Bartrum is looking forward to running the hard-charging former single-seater champion. "He's coming in to do a job for us. We'd love to see him on the podium!"
