WORLD Champion Tai Woffinden claimed the second win of his GP career with a spectacular triumph in the Czech Republic Grand Prix in Prague. The British ace put in a magnificent showing to repeat his victory at the Marketa Stadium twelve months ago which kick-started his World Championship run.A textbook start from Woffinden in the Grand Final saw him climb to the top of the rostrum and move level with runner-up Greg Hancock at the summit of the GP standings following an 18 point haul.He said: “I started the night making starts then made some changes which didn't quite work. Once we changed back I managed to finish strong, and it was amazing to come away with the win."I'd just like to thank all the boys. The team set-up I've got is working well for me - it wasn't an easy start to the season but we've worked hard and things seem to be coming good now.”

EASTBOURNE moved into the Elite League’s top three with a 55-36 win over Leicester at Arlington. The Eagles have won all eight of their home outings so far, dropping just one point in the process, and fast-track reserve Lewis Blackbird was again in excellent form with 12+2 to head up a solid all-round effort. Jason Doyle top-scored for the Lions with 10.Eastbourne boss Trevor Geer said: “Leicester certainly proved to be tougher than our previous two opponents at Arlington and I am delighted the way the team responded. “The Lions were strengthened by having Rory Schlein in place of Patrick Hougaard and their top three were a handful. Lewis had another great night for us. He was brilliant.”In the Premier League, Rye House were left to rue a blown engine for Jason Garrity and clutch issues for Steve Boxall as Ipswich pulled off a 46-44 away win at Hoddesdon.Boxall suffered two point-less rides and a disqualification for exceeding the time allowance, whilst Garrity top-scored for the Rockets but lost a race win in Heat 12 when he stopped on the last lap.Manager John Sampford said: “Yes, it all came down to the blow-up and the relentless bike problems for Steve. For a start, if we had claimed a 3-3 in Heat 12 instead of suddenly conceding a 5-1, we would have won by two points instead of losing by the same margin.“Unfortunately, there’s not much that you can do about that. We always knew that it was going to be a hard match, and in a tight meeting these little things can make all the difference.”Former Workington No.1 Richard Lawson returned to Derwent Park with Redcar and scored a paid maximum from five rides – but it wasn’t enough for the Bears to take any points from the meeting. The Comets took victory 51-41 and secured maximum points in the final heat with Ricky Wells and Kyle Howarth packing in behind Lawson for a shared race as Aaron Summers’ run of three successive wins came to an end.Meanwhile Stoke’s good start to the season continues after a 54-39 win over Mildenhall at Loomer Road in the National Trophy.Joe Jacobs scored a maximum for the visitors but the Potters managed to overcome the early loss of reserve James McBain with their heat-leader trip of Ben Hopwood, Jon Armstrong and Ben Wilson all in double-figures.
(SPEEDWAY 3 – SUNDAY PREVIEW)
SCUNTHORPE star Nicolai Klindt moves to the No.1 position for the Scorpions’ Premier League visit to Glasgow on Sunday afternoon.Klindt, who joined the club recently as an injury replacement for Anders Mellgren, takes over from Josh Auty at the top of the order as they look for a second away win of their league campaign – whilst the Tigers have won both of their Ashfield outings so far.Chris Mills makes his Newcastle debut as the Diamonds bid to halt the run of success being enjoyed by Edinburgh, whose record this season reads 14 wins and one draw. The Monarchs top the table by two points from Ipswich with three matches in hand, whilst Newcastle are bidding to gain ground on the top six.In the National League, Mildenhall can return to the top of the table with all three points from their home match against Kent. The clash will see Aaron Baseby make his debut for the Kings against his former club after the asset switch earlier in the week which saw Connor Coles become a full-time Fen Tiger.Leicester stage their second National Trophy fixture at the Jordan Road Surfacing Stadium, with in-form Stoke providing the opposition. The Lion Cubs are hoping to welcome Tom Perry back from injury whilst the Potters are looking for a weekend double after their home win over Mildenhall on Saturday.Leicester boss Dave Howard said: “Stoke have really gelled as a team this season and if we can replicate the same spirit and desire as we did during the match against Kent we will be competitive.”Stoke manager Malcolm Vasey said: “Our form has been impressive so far although there are big guns out there that we have yet to meet. But this side is good enough to win anytime and I am pleased with all of them.”(FIXTURES) SUNDAY JUNE 1:PREMIER LEAGUE: Glasgow v Scunthorpe 3pm, Newcastle v Edinburgh 6.30NATIONAL LEAGUE: Mildenhall v Kent 3.30NATIONAL TROPHY: Leicester v Stoke 4pm
