Ginetta Racer Charlie Robertson Targeting Double Podium At Oulton Park‏

Oulton Park International Circuit hosts the latest two rounds of the Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup season this coming weekend, 7th/8th June, where category race winner Charlie Robertson is determined to move back into the championship top three with two strong podium performances.Unsurprisingly making a significant impact during his first season in sportscar racing, the Whyteleafe teenager starred on his debut at Brands Hatch at the end of March with victory in only his second race at the wheel of a Ginetta G55 – having already climbed the podium in round one.Going on to add another win in round four at Donington Park as well as a runner-up spot in round five, earning him the championship lead, Charlie had a more challenging weekend at Thruxton last time out where a combination of clutch issues and severe tyre wear pegged-back his potential.Despite the difficulties in Hampshire, the HHC Motorsport driver still displayed tremendous pace with pole position in qualifying and he showed great resolve in chalking-up a healthy haul of points to remain within just 26 points of the top of the standings.“It’s been a few weeks since Thruxton so I’m really looking forward to being back in the car at Oulton where I hope we’ll be able to challenge for a couple of podiums at least”, commented the Investigo and Blackstar-backed driver, “The aim at the weekend is to move back up the championship, we lost some ground at Thruxton so the plan is to hit back as quickly as we can.“Qualifying went well, pole position was the perfect start, but things just didn’t work out in the races with a few problems. In the end it was all about damage limitation and scoring as many points as we could, every point could be crucial by the end of the season.”While the full International Circuit configuration at Oulton Park is new for the Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup, Charlie does have knowledge of the Cheshire venue’s 2.69-mile track from his season in the BRDC Formula 4 Championship last year.Finishing on the podium in F4, as well as producing fastest lap pace, the Surrey youngster is aiming to put that experience to good use on one of the most challenging and demanding circuits visited by the British Touring Car Championship package.“Oulton is a fantastic track with lots of undulation, it’s definitely one of the most enjoyable circuits to drive”, he added, “We showed good pace last year in F4 and even though the Ginetta is a totally different car, that experience should be beneficial. I’m really looking forward to being back there.”Following pre-event testing on Friday, 6th June, Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup qualifying will begin at 09.05 on Saturday, 7th June, with round 10 of the season getting underway at 16.00. On Sunday, 8th June, round 11 will start at 15.10 and will be screened live on ITV4 and ITV4 HD.
