Team First Qualifying Report
After a long day, the cars went on track at 7pm for the first of the two qualifying sessions. John was in the car for the full two hours, improving the set-up which, when he got out at 9pm had made the LMP a fantastic car to drive. Interestingly, for the first time, John was delighted that the Storm was now keeping up with the Audis on the straights. He made no attempt to set a fast qualifying time.
Casper was out for the second (night time) qualifying session - he completed 4 laps before coming to the pits for new tyres. However, the data showed a slight misfire. The engine was checked over and nothing found so the decision was made to change it. During this change Laurence found the problem - loose spark plug components - nothing serious but we lost necessary track time.
The plan was always to change the engine between the two qualifying sessions - the one that will be in the car for Thursday night qualifying is a new development. The decision on which will be the race engine will be made tonight.
