Jordan second in Yorkshire

Andrew Jordan was awarded second place in round five of the British Junior Rallycross Championship after the finish of racing at the Croft circuit on Sunday (20 June). Although Andrew initially finished third in the race, he was later elevated to second when one of the drivers that had finished ahead of him was excluded for a driving infringement. However, the 15-year old from Sutton Coldfield believed that he could have finished even higher in the final had he not been delayed by one of his rivals in the early stages of the final at the North Yorkshire track. "I think we had the pace to win overall in the final," said Andrew. "But I got held up in the first couple of laps. In terms of championship points it was also a good day for the determined and ambitious young racer. He finished ahead of Ash Davies and Joe Powis, the two drivers currently lying ahead of him in the points standings. That result has enabled Andrew to narrow the gap to his two major title rivals heading into the championship's summer break. The junior racers now have a two-month gap before the championship resumes for round six at Lydden Hill (Kent) on Bank Holiday Monday (30 August). It was a good day all round for the Jordan family on Sunday, as while Andrew was racing his Mini at Croft, his father Mike was scoring a dramatic victory in the British GT Championship at Castle Combe (Wiltshire) in his Porsche 911GT3RS.
