Horne gets VIP car for Supercup

Barry Horne, winner of the 2003 Porsche Carrera Cup GB, will race the official German-entered VIP car in the Porsche Michelin Supercup race supporting the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday, 11 July.The Scot has been offered the chance to race the VIP car in recognition of his victory in the 2003 Carrera Cup GB and is aiming to use the opportunity to launch plans for a full Supercup campaign in 2005. "I'm very much looking forward to it," says Horne. "It's a great opportunity to race the VIP car for Porsche and it's good to get this type of recognition for winning the Carrera Cup last season. It is a superb opportunity and I couldn't have asked for more. It's good that Porsche has put its faith in me to race the car at the British Grand Prix meeting. It's a big bonus for winning the 2003 championship."Horne contested the 2003 Supercup race at Silverstone and ran inside the top 10 after qualifying 12th. He plans to show even better this year. "My target is a top six finish. We've only got 45 minutes of free practice, but I know how to drive these cars!"
