Bobbi on FIA GT Donington podium

After his misfortune in Brno, Matteo Bobbi took the podium in Donington last weekend with a 3rd place finish. The driver from Milan was one of the main protagonists right from the start. With wet conditions on track during Saturdays’ qualification, Matteo was able to get a grid position at the front of the line by coming in second.

Matteo started off well on Sunday for the race and immediately took  the lead but the Track Marshals stated that Matteo had  jump started the race. Matteo was  given a drive through penalty during the seventh lap and he  lost the leadership and slotted down to fifth place.

After the three hour race, team-mates Bobbi & Gardel cut the finish line in 4th place which was then promoted to 3rd after a 5 minute penalty was given to Melo & Wendlinger.

“I started off well but the marshals thought that I jump started the race. It’s a questionable decision but I accept it with serenity. As a result, the drive through penalty took away my chances of taking the lead and I never got that chance again during the race. Due to Melo & Wendlinger’s penalty, I unexpectedly got a   - now it’s time to think about the 24 hours of Spa which is a very challenging event both for the drivers and the cars.”
