Morris switches to a Porsche

John Morris and Chris Flavell have switched to an ex-Geoff Crabtree Porsche 911 for the Armajaro MSA British Historic Rally Championship. Having previously competed in a very rapid Hillman Imp, they debuted the Porsche on the Mid Wales Stages on 26/27 June and finished eighth in the historic division of the event. The Imp was a regular class winner, but has recently been sold to New Zealand where it will continue to contest historic rallies. Morris has now acquired the 911 and plans to use the rest of the year learning about the car before a full campaign in 2005. "I've never driven a Porsche before, but I've enjoyed it," reported Morris at the end of his debut event. "I've got to grips with it as the day's gone on," he said of the Stourbridge Motorsport tended car."It's a whole new experience and this will be a learning year. Dessie Nutt has got to be the target ultimately, but that could take a little while!" Subject to checking over the gearbox, Morris plans to contest the next BHRC round, the Manx International, at the end of July.
