Rick Pearson in Le Mans Endurance

Rick Pearson and his Daventy-based team, Tracsport Motorsport have today announced they will race a Lola B2K in the three remaining rounds of the Le Mans Endurance Series.

Pearson will be partnered by Caterham ace, John Gaw and ex Formula 3, Caterham and Clio driver, John Ingram. The trio started the year as strong contenders in the Caterham R400 Challenge but will now concentrate their efforts on the Prototype Class of the new-for-2004 Endurance Series.

Backed by MAN Financial Group, DMIPI and Carlube, Pearson, Gaw and Ingram will get their first taste of the championship at Germany’s Nürburgring this weekend (2/3/4 July). Despite a strong entry list for the 1000km race, the all-British Tracsport squad are expecting to hit the ground running following promising shakedown tests at both Silverstone and Snetterton.

“The car has performed faultlessly in testing which bodes well for the first race,” Pearson commented. “It handles well, is phenomenally quick and a real pleasure to drive. We’ve already learnt a lot in the two preliminary runs and can’t wait for those lights to turn green on Saturday afternoon.”

“The plan for the season is to run to the finish in all three rounds – this weekend at Nürburgring, then at Silverstone in August and Spa in September.”

“We want to go to Le Mans next year, so we’ll be out to prove that LMP2 cars can run reliably over long distances,” added John Ingram.

Taking in Monza, Nürburgring, Silverstone and Spa-Francorchamps, the European-wide Le Mans Endurance Series brings together the world’s best endurance racing teams and drivers in a gruelling series of classic 1000km races.

Live Coverage of Saturday’s race will be broadcast on Motors TV at 16.00 CET.
