After the desire of CIK-FIA and the manufacturers of the 4-stroke engines an indication was set.
The CIK-FIA offers the platform for the coming years, to the 4-stroke engine of Team Biland Kart-Power AG, to integrate officially into the European Championships and World Championships together with the 2-stroke engines. Starting from the year 2005, the SA250 engine of Team Biland Kart-Power AG should participate at about five to seven European Championships and World Championships. Depending on the number of drivers, there should be integrated in addition a junior category (SA250 18HP) into the CIK-FIA events. This 4-stroke racing category will not be officially classified as European Championship or World Championship, it will be classified as its own category.
The kick-off race for the upcoming races in the next year is taking place already this year in Braga / Portugal 21. / 22. August 2004, were all the SA250 drivers on a par with the elite of the karting world of the 2-strokes.
Additionally to this, there are two overseas races foreseen by CIK-FIA in 2005 (Pan-American, evtl. Brazil and Asia Pacific evtl. Japan), were the 4-strokes have the possibility to participate.
The kick-off race will also be, in addition to the CIK-FIA TV-coverage, filmed by an own professional TV-production, which is exclusively only for the 4-stroke races and will be shown in more than ten countries on respective sports channels.
Team Biland Kart-Power AG items supplied for the Braga event
1. Drivers will receive a special works engine for use over the weekend. These engines will be distributed by lot.2. Engine maintenance by works mechanics of Team Biland Kart-Power AG, crash parts due to team/driver. 3. 3½ sets of slicks and 2½ sets of rain tyres 4. Workshop tents will be set up for all participants in the pits (10 X 5m): one tent for three drivers5. Catering: each driver will receive from Thursday to Sunday (19.-22.08.2004) two meals per day plus beverages (lunch and one afternoon/evening snack)6. Use of track from Thursday to Sunday according timeframe7. A professional film production team will be onsite to take exclusive footage of four-stroke training runs and races, for broadcast via approx. 10 TV channels (further details to follow). 8. 1. Participants must each supply their own chassis (possibility to rent at place is given)2. Maximum of two mechanics per pit per driver. 3. Each driver starting for the teams will receive on Sunday evening after the race a brand new SA250 (model 2004) for free in consideration for their expenses. The engine has a sales price of approx. Euro 3’500.--, this will not be the engine used at the race.
