Motorsport fans tuning in for ITV1's British Grand Prix coverage this Sunday (July 11) will get the chance to see the first in a series of programmes looking at the exciting new Privilege Insurance Formula Woman Championship, the UK's first ever all-women motor racing series.  The hour-long Formula Woman show follows immediately after the F1 coverage and will provide viewers with an entertaining insight into how the 16 female amateur competitors were selected from over 10,000 applicants.

The seven-round Formula Woman championship is being broadcast by ITV1 during the summer as part of the channel's 'Speed Sunday' weekend motorsport coverage.  This Sunday's programme will offer a 'fly-on-the-wall' look at the lives and motivations of the competitors, as well as revealing the tears, tantrums and personal triumphs that characterised a gruelling, 12-month selection process designed to whittle the long list of hopeful applicants down to the final entries. 

Aside from being aspiring race drivers, the girls come from all walks of life and the Championship contenders include a jet fighter pilot, an accountant, a police officer, an artist, a chartered surveyor and several students.  All have one goal - to hold up the trophy on July 25 at Brands Hatch and be crowned Privilege Insurance Formula Woman Champion 2004.
