Pinkney plans Carrera Cup GB return
David Pinkney will rejoin the Porsche Carrera Cup GB for the balance of the season, starting at Croft on 24/25 July. The former BTCC racer will now enter his car under the Pinkney Motorsport banner after a troubled start to the season.Pinkney, widely tipped as leading contender pre-season, only contested the first two weekends of the season at Thruxton and Brands Hatch in April before team problems struck. Now, with his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car being run by his own crew, Pinkney is eager to return to front-running form."We've decided to run the car ourselves, and Andrew Dean will be my engineer. I want to get back out and get on the podium," says Pinkney. Having been a race winner in 2003 and in contention for a podium at Brands in April before a water pipe detached, Pinkney is likely to be a strong contender over the second half of the season.Having done very little running to date this season, Pinkney is eager to get back racing again. "We tested at Snetterton last week and that was very encouraging," he says. "I was quick at Croft last year, so I'm aiming for a good return to the championship!"
