Faulkner confirmed in Carrera Cup

Damien Faulkner will contest the remainder of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB season in a third car from Motorbase Performance. The Irish ace will join team regulars Andy and Gary Britnell in a three-car squad racing in the colours of SAS International, starting at the next round at Croft over the weekend of 24/25 July.Faulkner, winner of the pair of races at Mondello Park at the start of 2003 in the VIP entry, joined the Motorbase team for the 2004 Mondello weekend. He will now complete the season with the team headed by former racer David Bartrum."I am absolutely delighted," said an elated Faulkner, who was hiking in the Italian mountains when he got the call. "I'd like to thank SAS International and the team for giving me this fantastic opportunity. The team has a great atmosphere and turns out front-running cars. It is great to know I'm going racing and it just shows that, if you persevere and keep in there, something can happen."Team boss Bartrum is equally pleased to add Faulkner to his driving squad. "The Mondello weekend didn’t go according to plan, but it showed that he will be a great asset to the team and we know his true potential. I'm looking forward to running a very strong three-car team."Faulkner is aiming to bring the team race wins during the remaining 10 rounds of the championship. "There is no pressure to score championship points, so I'm aiming for podium finishes. It's the first time since 2001 that I've known for definite that I'm going racing!"
