MPS Racing secures podiums with Jack Rowland and Sherco in debut

MPS Racing, under the guidance of team boss Mick Seward, started a new era with their Sherco Enduro team with their first outing taking place at the final round of the Dutch Championship at Enter on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th November.

The team of Mick as van driver/general dogs body travelled to Holland with his rider Jack Rowland, supported by his injured rider Jamie Lewis who is now fighting back to fitness.

Jack had no time to even practice on his new 250 SEF Sherco and as he headed into the Dutch Championship race it was a case of running the bike in and racing it all in one very hectic day. It was certainly a test for the young Yorkshire rider who had to face twelve special tests which put him in 4th place in the E1 Class. Not a bad result for someone who had literally never ridden the bike before!

Getting used to the Sherco Jack put in a stunning performance on the Saturday, winning the E2 class and finishing in 3rd place overall which gave all the MPS team something to celebrate at the usual end of season party and prize presentation.

With no time to lose it was back to the ferry on Monday morning to clean and prepare the bike for the first round of the World Super Enduro at Gdnask, Poland.

With a free practice session and qualification Jack Rowland was 2nd overall going into the first race. Jack got the hole-shot in the first race but with two more experienced extreme riders passing him he ended up in third place. In the second session it was reverse order for the start but Jack again fought his way through the field to finish in 4th place.

In the final race Jack got the hole-shot again but the usual rough and tumble of extremes he had to fight his way to 4th but with securing a strong 3rd overall. The icing on the cake was winning the Hole Shot Award which was well earned after some very hard fought races.

Jack Rowland - "I can honestly say I loved the 250 Sherco and she handles like no other bike I have ever ridden. I feel that with a bit more practice and a change in my fitness regime to cope with such short intense races in the Indoor Extremes I can take the win before the end of the Indoor season."

Team Manager Mick Seward - "It has not been a bad start to a new chapter with the Sherco team. I am very impressed with the new bike, especially the overall build quality and also how Jack rode without any practice beforehand. Bring on the next race and some more good results. Thanks to everyone at Sherco and MRS for all their help and support so far, long may it continue!"
