The 3rd round of the prestigious Maserati Trophy championship took place this weekend in Silverstone. Andrea De Megni the VIP driver for Pakelo Racing was among the participants. However, this time around luck did not help the Venetian driver. De Megni who is already looking for redemption at the next round, was left unsatisfied with the 12th place finish.

“I need to be honest; I expected a lot more from this race. Right from the start during the qualifications, I had all too many problems. I was 13th on the starting grid when my goal was to be in the top 10.
In this type of championship, it is often hard to get a good result if you start at the back of the grid. Moreover, one doesn’t have much time to get a good lap and I may not have been on the same wave length with the track. The race was a little better.
After a good start, I conquered a few positions even if it was difficult to find a way to overtake my adversaries. At this point, I decided to change my strategy and made the obligatory pit stop earlier than expected. I thought that this would allow me to have a free track and would make me gain a few positions.
Unfortunately, my strategy didn’t work because of an accident. Consequently, the Marshals put out the red flag when 75% of the race was over. The race therefore ended prematurely and my strategy went up in smoke. I know that I have to improve my performance during the qualifications - if I start at the front of the grid I can fight for the top positions.”
