THE COUNT DOWN HAS BEGUN TO EUROPE'S MOST EAGERLY AWAITED AND LARGEST ROAD RALLY - CANNONBALL RUN EUROPE 2004With just over eight weeks to go, the count down has begun for the start of the original and legendary European road rally, Cannonball Run Europe. The route has been confirmed, the track day booked and with 103 high performance vehicles already signed up, the third Cannonball Run Europe will be the largest European road rally of its kind. Forget the copycats, Cannonball Run Europe is THE real thing.Bringing petrol heads together from all across the UK, Europe and the U.S.A, the Cannonball Run Europe is the ultimate party on the move.Tim Porter, Managing Director of Cannonball Run Europe explained: “We have been bowled over by the interest in this year’s event and have had entrants from as far a field as Canada, not to mention enquiries from numerous celebrities.”Cannonball Run Europe 2004 kicks off with a launch party on 11th September at the Sunborne Yacht Hotel in London's Docklands and the start of the rally will take place at 2pm on September 12th when 120 vehicles will leave the Docklands for Calais.Just some of the vehicles already signed up include a GT Bentley, Hummer, Ferrari 360 Modena, Lamborghini Gallardo, Mercedes SL350, Aston Martin DB7, numerous Porsche Turbos, a Caterham 7, Maserati Spyder, Dodge Viper, BMW 760 and a Nissan skyline.

Tim said: “Although we have approximately two million pounds worth of vehicles taking part, we are keen to stress that the Cannonball Run Europe is not just a super car event. Unlike other rallies, people from all walks of life who drive everyday vehicles can enjoy the Cannonball Run Europe.

“We have had entries from Cannonballers driving Skodas and Mini Coopers, it’s not the vehicle but the navigational skill behind the wheel that counts. Cannonball Run Europe is anyone’s game, whether it’s a Ferrari or Ford entrants drive they all stand an equal chance of winning. As a timed rally the Cannonball Run Europe is about precision and not speed.”The event inspired by the 1981 film of the same name, will see 120 cars travel over 3,500 miles in just six days. The final route is kept a closely guarded secret and only at each checkpoint will the next destination be revealed to each unsuspecting Cannonballer.

Cannonballers will take onboard challenging roads, breath-taking scenery, luxury hotels, fine dining and fast and furious partying at some of Europe’s most exclusive and prestigious nightclubs.

The victorious team will take the coveted Cannonball Run Europe 2004 title, trophy and get free entry for next year's event in order to defend the crown.
