Mighty Mini’s Head a Great Weekends Racing

On Sunday 18th July Rockingham will reverberate to the sound of classic cars as Europe’s fastest race circuit hosts a meeting run by the Classic Sports Car Club. 

The meeting will feature seven races including two for the ever popular Mighty Mini Championship.  Britain’s favourite car of the 20th Century is celebrating its 45th birthday this year and the Mighty Mini’s, a formula for road legal cars, will thrill with a cocktail of door-to-door and paint swapping racing action.

Also on the race card this weekend are two races MG Owners Club and will feature classic cars from the 60’s through to present day. The CSCC Swinging Sixties race will feature cars from a classic era including Triumphs, Jaguar’s, Marcos, Lotus and Aston Martin.  Single seat racing will be represented by the Formula Jedi Challenge, with these 600cc engine cars providing a great racing spectacle. However, the best sounding race of the day will undoubtedly be the CSCC V8 Rolling Thunder race featuring Corvettes, Mustangs , Sunbeam Tigers and an AC Cobra.

Practice and qualifying begins at 10am, with the first race due after lunch at 1:30pm.  A full action packed day of racing is in store with tickets available on the gate at £12 for adults and children 16 and under receiving free entry.
