Turkish rising star Salih Yoluc and British ace Euan Hankey will swap GT Cup for the Avon Tyres British GT Championship in 2015, with an ‘all-new’ Von Ryan Racing prepared McLaren 650S GT3.Yoluc and Hankey, who won the 2015 Dubai 24 Hours SP3 class with Optimum Motorsport in January, have embarked on a meteoric rise up into the upper echelons of national GT racing, having never raced a GT car prior to the 2014 season.Under the experienced tutelage of former Porsche Carrera Cup GB frontrunner Hankey, Istanbul-based Yoluc has matured into a capable amateur, taking multiple class wins and podiums at GT4 level, with his sights set on bigger success in the future.“Salih has been a superb student of the sport since we started working together,” said 27-year-old Hankey. “To say it’s been an upward learning curve for him is a massive understatement, but over the past eighteen months he’s experienced most race scenarios, weather conditions and night racing, proving himself in some extremely tough races against some formidable competition.“The win in Dubai was hugely important for him, he had nowhere to hide against the level of competition we faced there and he was superb. It’s all about gaining GT3 experience from here on in and building up to being a front runner,” explained Hankey.The decision to enter GT3 competition was mutual, and Yoluc is pragmatic about what he can achieve in his first year and is thrilled about the prospect of racing against some of the hottest talent in UK motorsport.“I’ve had a great time getting to this point in my racing, and now I face the biggest test of my ability so far,” said the 29-year-old. “I’ve been working closely with Euan to understand what I need to do and I’m aware that I’m now up against the big boys. Dave (Ryan – Von Ryan Team Principal) and the team have been fantastic so far and it feels like one big family; throughout pre-season testing there’s been a lot of support and focus on my development, which as a relatively inexperienced driver is key to making sure I’m on the pace. I’m realistic about 2015; I still have a lot to learn, but I’ve not come this far to just make up the number and be happy with tenth place.”The pair will debut the sleek and stylish 650S in the top national GT championship at the Oulton Park opener (4-6 April) in just over a month’s time, at the highly popular Easter Weekend meeting on the Cheshire track.Speaking about Von Ryan Racing and the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 McLaren 650S GT3, Yoluc can’t hide his excitement about the season ahead."Dave is an inspirational guy and he has built a great team. They (the team) have the same mentality as Euan and I; they just want to go out, do the job and win races. The 650S should give us every chance to do that, we’re confident it’s the right car for us and look forward to seeing its potential in 2015."
