The Classic Sale at CarFest 2026 - Saturday Results

An incredibly rare find, offered from its original owner this superb, Karmann-built, GTI Cabriolet has covered just 39,573 miles from new with continuous Volkswagen main dealer history.

The 1991 Volkswagen Golf GTi Cabriolet (Mk1) is a highly collectible, open-top modern classic hot hatch built by Karmann in Osnabrück. While the standard Golf hatchback moved to the second generation in 1983, the Cabriolet famously retained its original Mk1 architecture until 1993, earning it a distinct place in automotive history.
The car on offer here is a simply outstanding example, finished in Schwarz (black) paintwork with black soft top and signature cheque cloth interior, it was collected by its one and only owner new in 1991. Having been kept in the same garage from new, both the exterior and interior still display in remarkably original condition as you might expect
The impressive history file details every part of  the car's existence from its original order form (25/08/1990), and its original purchase invoice (£14,200) issued when the car was collected on 02/02/1991.
Also present in the leather-bound dealer book pack is the model-specific Golf Convertible handbook, extended warranty card and accompanying VAG books as well as it’s original service book showing every service (all VW main dealer), a staggering 36 stamps with accompanying invoices.
Further works include two new tyres and a cambelt change in January of 2022 and more recently, a minor service in January 2025, and a roof service in November of 2025
