BHRC Pirelli Carlisle Rally award winners announced

The special award winners in the third round of the 2015 Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship, the Pirelli Carlisle Rally (Saturday 25 April) have been announced following the rally that also featured the third round of the Holton Homes Clubmans Challenge.The Holton Homes Clubmans Challenge is for crews using a maximum of six tyres per rally. The top overall finishers from the strong Clubmans Challenge field were once more Tim Freeman and Paul Williams in their Ford Escort Mk2. They finished a superb fifth overall among the BHRC contenders.The ‘Spirit of the Rally’ product award from Fuchs Lubricants went to Rudi Lancaster who scored his best BHRC result to date with fifth overall. It was his first visit to Kielder for 20 years and he made the long journey north from Devon worthwhile with a great result.Philip Harris and Alan Walker collected the award for the ‘Best Improvement on Seeding’, which is a set of axle brake pads from Mintex. Despite some tough conditions, they battled their Mini Cooper S up to 44th place after starting as car 98. Finally, Paul Barrett won the ‘Hard Charger’ award of a 20-litre jerry can from Green Valley Industrial Supplies. He took his Pinto-powered Escort Mk2 to third overall on his first experience of the Kielder stages.
