Season opens at Hockenheim this weekendThree Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (991) Cars for MRS Christian Engelhart, Richard (Spike) Goddard and Elia Erhart

Molitor Racing Systems had an exciting past few weeks with the start of four motorsport championships so far. The start of the Porsche Carrera Cup this coming weekend at Hockenheim will add a further highlight. The Lonsee-based team will run with three Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (991) with drivers Christian Engelhart, Richard (Spike) Goddard and Elia Erhart.

Molitor Racing Systems completed an extensive test programme at circuit including the Norschleife (Nürburgring) and Hockenheim, to prepare for the important season ahead. “The tests have been positively all the way through and especially running on the Nordschleife we managed to put in some good lap times”, said Christian Engelhart, who came third in last year´s overal standings and drives the number 14 Porsche. “My goal is to compete right at the front with MRS and to top my good results from last year. To come third is great, but I would like to be further up the ladder at the end of the year.”

Engelharts team-mate, Richard (Spike) Goddard will compete once again in Europe following his season in the European Formula 3 Championship in 2013.The Australian, who has lived in the UK for many years, feels already at home driving the Porsche. “I am very excited about my first season in the Porsche Carrera Cup”, said the 22-year-old, who drives the #15 MRS Porsche. “The first races will be a learning curve for me, but I am looking forward to the new and great challenge.”

The #16 Porsche will be driven by Elia Erhart, who has been competing in the Porsche Carrera Cup since 2012. “We took away a lot from last year and are aiming to drive further up in the field on a regular basis”, said Erhart. “Iam keen to get going again. Hockenheim is always a special track and as a season opener is a great location.”

The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (991) is based upon the road-legal super lightweight sports car 911 GT3 RS. Whilst a larger rear wing has been added for the aerodynamic, the 460-horsepower-strong 3.8-Liter Engine is the same as in the road car. All race cars are identical, so are the tyres provided by Michelin (max. three sets of slicks per weekend and race car) as well as the fuel.

The Porsche Carrera Cup will visit nine race tracks this year with two European stops at Spielberg (Austria) and Zanvoort in The Netherlands.Following a years absence, the Cup will also return to the Nordschleife, this time in the support program during the 24 hours race at the Nürburgring. All 2015 races and highlights will be broadcast on Sport 1 and n-tv. The season final will take place in Hockenheim from 16th until 18th October.
