Can Amy continue her consecutive-wins streak when she races at Lime Rock

The racing world would be in an even better place if what we’re about to tell you wasn’t news, but it is: For possibly the only time in the history of professional road racing in America, a woman has won three major league sports car races in a row.

Driving the No. 23 McNichols Co. Chevrolet Corvette, Trans Am driver Amy Ruman, 39, won the 2014 Trans Am season finale at Daytona this past November, followed by winning the first two Trans Am races (Sebring and Homestead-Miami) of this year’s championship.

Our research has not found any women driver in the past 60 years winning two, let alone three, professional sports car races in a row. (In NHRA Top Fuel drag racing, the great Shirley Muldowney won three consecutive races in 1977.)

Trans Am is here at Lime Rock for the season-opening Memorial Day weekend (May 22-24), and if Ruman wins at Road Atlanta next weekend (May 7) – she’s the odds-on favorite going in – she’ll be at Lime Rock gunning for her fifth consecutive victory. Whether you’re pulling for her or against, you’re going to want to come and see what happens.

Trans Am Saturday Race-Day tickets can be bought now for just $20
