Fontes, van Oostrum ready for Spanish Endurance season kickoff

Spain's Álvaro Fontes and Holland's Mirco van Oostrum begin their season sharing a PCR Sport SEAT León Cup Racer in the Spanish Endurance Championship and are ready for their curtain-raiser event in the Spanish Endurance championship, which has scheduled six rounds throughout the season at the following racing tracks: Circuit de Valencia (2-3 May), Jarama (30-31 May), Motorland Aragón (27-28 June), Navarra (12-13 September), Estoril (10-11 October) and finally Barcelona (14-15 November).

The drivers will team up at the wheel of a SEAT León Cup Racer, the most recent touring car developed by SEAT Sport so far, in D1 class. There is a huge entry list with a large variation of entrants but Fontes and van Oostrum will try to meet their ambitious targets as Fontes is a seasoned driver and PCR Sport has the experience and know-how to provide a competitive racing car throughout the season. In fact, Fontes has achieved a large list of achievements with Pep Codinach's team and his resounding A3T class win in the 24 hours of Barcelona in 2011.

Fontes explains that “I´m very excited about this new challenge teaming up with Mirco. Our goal is to be prepared for a steep learning curve, always working as a team because we want to become frontrunners in the SEAT León Trophy. It is nice to be back to PCR Sport with such an ambitious project, and I will try to help my teammate as much as possible. Mirco has proven his solid driving and speed. It is a long-term project now taking its first steps and I´m looking forward to it”.

Mirco van Oostrum: “It is such a pleasure to make my debut with Álvaro. I have no doubt I will be able to learn a lot from him because his racing pedigree is rather impressive. Besides our team PCR Sport are natural-born winners and with years of experience. Our target is to race other international series in the future, and in our humble opinion this is the right way to start. Finally I would like to express my thanks for the support of our sponsors Cavalli Club Sport Banús, Ray Mar, Sisu Hotel, Dynamic Marbella, Ascari Race Resort, Repsol, Lavomatic and Todo Racing Sport. They make this possible”.

Both Class 1 races take place on Sunday at 10.10 and 16.10, consisting of 48 minutes plus an additional lap each.
