Honda and BAR Extend Partnership

Honda, BAR extend partnership: The partnership between BAR F1 and Honda Motor Company entered a new era with the announcement July 23 of a long-term extension to their engine supply and joint chassis development agreement. The initial segment of the long-term contract runs through the end of 2007, and there are options to continue after that.

In the 12 races to date this season, BAR driver Jenson Button has achieved seven podium finishes, and teammate Takuma Sato scored the first podium finish by a Japanese driver for 14 years with third place at the United States Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Honda has been involved in F1 from 1964-68, from 1983-92 and from 2000 until the present.

To date, Honda-powered cars have won 75 pole positions and 71 Grands Prix.
