Marjoram makes claim whilst The Kid keeps the lead in V8 Ute Perth Round

Ryal “The Kid” Harris has walked away with Race 3 and the Round win while local Adam Marjoram secured his first podium for Round 2 of the 2015 East Coast Bullbars Australian V8 Ute Racing Series at the UBET Perth SuperSprint, Barbagallo Raceway, Sunday, 3rd May.

Harris had a great start off the line moving straight into Pole sitter Rhys McNally’s racing line to take the lead for the start and the remainder of the race.

“I’m really happy and although I don’t entirely agree with the new points system it definitely made the final race interesting, any one of six people could have won and I’m glad it was me, Holiday for life.com are more than happy with the coverage as are all of my other sponsors, Matt Stone Racing obviously gave me a great car and we took out the team award again so it’s been a great weekend,” said Harris.

The Holiday For Life Racer was under constant pressure from West Aussie Adam Marjoram who made a great move on Gerard McLeod on lap 7, turn 1 to take second position, the Auto One racer pressured Harris for the remainder of the race but it wasn’t enough to give him his first race win. He did however walk away with his first Podium appearance cementing second overall for the Round only four points behind Harris.

“I couldn’t be happier, to finally get a podium and to do it here in front of a home crowd and all of the Auto One crew it’s just awesome, I’m so happy right now, Erebus have done such a great job on the car and I know I’m one to watch out for now,” said an elated Marjoram.

Gerard McLeod held onto third position until George Miedecke took him on the final lap to take third for the Race. McLeod still had a great result to bring his RYCO & Transco MFG Holden home in fourth for the race and fifth overall for the Round, a personal best result.

“It’s been a standout weekend for us I’ve always known we had the pace to run where we are running all weekend, but we’ ve had a bit of bad luck, so it’s good to get the Monkey off my back. We’re only a small team so to run up there with the big boys there this weekend I’m really happy and I’m really looking forward to the next round,” explained McLeod.

Mango Credit’s David Sieders came home in fifth ahead of Ryan Hansford in sixth, All Purpose Pest Control Racing’s and former Ute Champion, Grant Johnson had a spectacular drive to seventh from his starting position of 22nd and Kim “The Assassin” Jane was eighth over the line citing a slipping clutch. Sieders was on equal points with Bob Jane T-Marts’, Jane at the end of the Race; however his fifth finishing place over Jane’s eighth was enough to earn him third for the Round. Jane did walk away with the Masters Award for the Round.

“The points system helped Ryal this weekend to get further away but we’re back on form for the podium so that’s the main thing,” said Sieders.

Just Car Insurance Racing’s Craig Dontas rounded out the top ten in front of Slideways Go Karting Australia’s Driver Cam Wilson who had a great drive to finish in 11th.

Rhys McNally didn’t have the best result being hit with a 10 second post-race penalty for Kerb hopping and struggled through the race on old tyres (using up his new ones in Qualifying).

Andrew fisher and Team Kleen Racing’s Adam Beechey came together on the final lap, which ended the Tasmanian’s (Beechey’s) race on the side of the track.

Sieders Racing’s Jordan Skinner was called in to the Pits with a Mechanical Black flag on lap 4 for leaking fuel.

Skyreach Racing’s Leigh Nicolaou finished the Round in a solid 15th, his efforts awarding him the Rookie Award for the weekend.

Matt Stone Racing walked away with the Team Award for the second round in a row, thanks to the results of Ryal Harris, George “Slick” Miedecke and Grant Johnson.

Danny Buzadzic, Richard Mork, Andrew Nickolls, Cam Wilson and Adam Beechey were all hit with an infringement notice and a formal reprimand for being in breach for incorrect mounting of their Dorian.
