Blow upon Blow, there is no rest for Molitor Racing Systems: With the start of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season, as a support race for Formula One in Barcelona, the team will see the start to its sixth championship n which they are competing this year. Christian Engelhart and Richard “Spike” Goddard take behind the wheel of the team´s two 911 GT3 Cup Porsche. The rest of the squad will be settled at Brands Hatch (England) for the second round of the Blancpain Sprint Series, in which Craig Dolby and Sean Walkinshaw drive the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3.

The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup is considered to be the top Series out of a total of 20 Porsche Championships worldwide. Following a year´s absence, the Lonsee-based team is returning with two cars. From 2005 until 2013, Molitor Racing competed in the Brand-Cup, which has been an exclusive partner with the Formula 1 races since 1993. In 2009, Molitor Racing recorded its best result to date with securing the Runner-Up title. “We are very happy to start in the Porsche Supercup again this year, because the championship is always full of excitement and races on some of the greatest tracks in the world”, says Karsten Molitor, Team Principle Molitor Racing Systems.

“We have two very strong drivers with Christian Engelhart and Spike Goddard and we are working with both in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany as well. I am sure this relationship will benefit in the Supercup. Following the successful start to the German Cup in Hockenheim last weekend, I am keen to see what expects us in Barcelona. Looking ahead, the race in Austin will surely be one highlight of the season.”

When the season to the Blancpain Sprint Series started in Nogaro last month, it could not have been more frustrating for the Nissan team. An accident right at the start in the qualification race set Dolby and Walkinshaw right at the back for the main race. Lately, however, the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 showed great potential: Molitor Racing Systems secured a double victory in the Gentlemen Class at the ADAC GT Masters in Oschersleben and at recent tests at Zolder (Belgium), the Nissan GT-R ran without a problem. “We have seen that we have a car that is capable of racing right at the front”, said the Englishman Craig Dolby, who shares the #73 GT-R with his 22-year-old team-mate, Sean Walkinshaw. “Brands Hatch will be a tricky track layout for us, but with it being both Sean and my home race, I am confident we can achieve a good result.”
