Daniel Lloyd is hoping to make his mark on the Blancpain Endurance Series this coming weekend (May 22/23) as the 62 GT3 car grid heads to the ‘Home of British Motorsport’ Silverstone for the championship’s only UK round. Despite a strong qualifying performance and impressive race pace during the season’s opening round at Monza’s Autodromo Nazionale circuit, pit-stop issues prevented Lloyd and his Oman Racing Team-mates Ahmad Al Harthy and Jonny Adam from claiming their targeted top ten finish. Back on UK soil, the three hour contest marks a return to a circuit better suited to the #44 Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3. The fast, flowing high-speed corners provide the Oman Racing Team drivers with an excellent opportunity to break into the top ten of the hugely competitive field on familiar, home territory.“I’m really looking forward to getting back out in the car again this weekend;” said Lloyd. “We didn’t get the best start to the season in Monza, which was even more frustrating as we know we had the pace in the car.“Coming to Silverstone this weekend though, I’m really confident that we can show our true potential as a team. Jonny, Ahmad and myself all know Silverstone really well and it’s a circuit that we’ve all taken wins on and the Aston did well here last year so everything points to a good weekend for us.”The Pro Cup challenger added; “The biggest challenge once more will be staying out of trouble. With over 60 GT3 cars on the grid, including full works teams, it can be quite an intimidating place to be! With a bit of luck on our side this weekend we can get a clear run and the chance to really show our capabilities.”
