Ferrier set for Carrera Cup debut

Tom Ferrier will make his debut in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Knockhill this weekend (7/8 August) racing for Team Parker Racing. Ferrier, a former ETCC racer, will race the car normally driven by Chris Cooper.Ferrier will also contest the Carrera Cup races at Brands Hatch and Donington later in the season as a lead in towards a planned full Carrera Cup campaign in 2005. Cooper, who has been tied up with business commitments in recent weeks, is due to return to the championship for Brands, so Ferrier will switch to another car for the later events."It's good to have a young charger back in the team," says team boss Stuart Parker. "I first ran Tom in 1998 and it's really good to get him back. He's been working with the team this year and so he fits in well."Ferrier was due to test at Knockhill today (Monday 2 August), which will be his first experience of driving a 911GT3 Cup car. "He's in at the deep end a little bit, but no one knows Knockhill that much. We want him to be challenging Harvey and Westbrook before the end of the season," adds Parker. "We've got to get our heads down and give him the equipment to do the job."
