The SEAT León Eurocup 2015 returns to action this weekend at Silverstone. The iconic British track will host the third round of the single brand contest, which continues its European tour after two races at Paul Ricard (France) and Estoril (Portugal).

The excitement and competitiveness of the SEAT León Eurocup will therefore continue to flow at Silverstone. 30 drivers, of 15 different nationalities, each equipped with a SEAT León Cup Racer, will line up on the grid at the iconic British track, which boasts over 60 years of history. The legendary venue features modernised facilities, following substantial renovation in recent years. The Silverstone track is 3.66 miles in length, with eight left hand corners and 10 right handers, and has earned a reputation as one of the standout circuits internationally, as well as the one of the fastest and most demanding.

Its characteristics are already familiar to most members of the SEAT León Eurocup. The single-brand contest is visiting the British track for a second year, following its first appointment there in 2014. Indeed, the leader of the overall standings and reigning International Series champion, Pol Rosell (Baporo Motorsport) managed to reach the podium in the second race held at Silverstone last year. The Spaniard will attempt to continue his good form - one victory and three podiums in four races this year - but his rivals, led by fellow Spaniards Fran Rueda (Monlau Competition) and Mikel Azcona (PCR Sport), second and third overall respectively, are sure to challenge at the British track. They are followed by Norwegian driver Stian Paulsen (Stian Paulsen Racing), who also featured on the podium at Silverstone last season. Home rider Alex Morgan (Baporo Motorsport), will also be looking for a strong result this weekend.

Jaime Puig, Director of SEAT Sport, commented, "We're enjoying it. The competition is very enjoyable for everyone and we see that race after race. The battles in the first laps, constant changes of race leader and excitement throughout the weekend mean the series is gaining more fans every day. For the second time we head to Silverstone, where the SEAT León Eurocup drivers will continue to battle this weekend."

The SEAT Leon Eurocup is a competition run by SEAT Sport and will celebrate its second year in 2015.

The first season consisted of six weekends of action and this has risen to include seven high-profile fixtures in the second term and will once again visit some of the most famous tracks in Europe. The single-make series will travel to seven renowned sites: Paul Ricard (France), Estoril (Portugal), Silverstone (UK), Red Bull Ring (Austria), Nürburgring (Germany), Monza (Italy) and the Circuit de Catalunya (Barcelona, Spain).

The SEAT Leon Cup Racer captures SEAT’s innovative spirit, combining striking design and a powerful engine. The powerful look of the Leon Cup Racer conveys its potency from the very first glance, yet it is clearly recognisable as a member of the Leon family. Although it has been developed from the ground up by SEAT Sport as a thoroughbred race car, the Cup Racer is nevertheless closely related to the SEAT Leon CUPRA, the brands high-performance top-of-the-range model for sporty driving fun on the road.

These front-wheel-drive cars are powered by a two-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged engine, partnered by a six-speed gearbox. Weighing 1,150kg and with a FIA-homologated roll cage, the car retains the DNA of the production Leon, but is 16.6cm wider with a distinctive bodykit and 18-inch racing wheels.

Since 1970 the Spanish brand has built a rich motorsport heritage taking a pair of FIA World Touring Car Championships in 2008 and 2009 and three Rally World titles in the two litre category (1996-1998) as well as running successful one-make series’ around the world. Through various international and national programmes SEAT Sport can also boast another 25 Rally and Touring Car Championship accolades.
