New Award Fund Announced For Motor Sports Clubs Supporting Wales Rally GB

Rally organisers acknowledge the support and dedication of volunteers

Rally GB Limited, organiser of Wales Rally GB, is announcing a new initiative for motor sports clubs who send registered marshals to the event.  Recognising the enormous commitment and contribution made by all the clubs around the country, Rally GB Limited has set up a new fund of £2,000 in partnership with the Motor Sports Association, offering the clubs the opportunity to gain funding for their own activities.

"The prize fund scheme has been created to acknowledge the commitment and support made by the thousands of individuals and hundreds of motor sports clubs who volunteer to support Wales Rally GB. Without the dedication and enthusiasm of these people, this event would simply not be possible” confirmed Andrew Coe, Chief Executive, Rally GB Limited.

There will be eight prizes of £250 each and they will be awarded on the basis of a written submission provided by the club. The entry must identify the work carried out for Wales Rally GB, before and during the event. Clubs must also detail new training and initiatives they want to undertake to further enhance the safety and organisation of the sport at all levels.

The winning Awards will be made by a panel comprising representatives from both Rally GB Limited and the Motor Sports Association.

In addition to the funding awards, a prize draw for two marshals to go to a World Rally Championship event in 2005 is being run again this year. Plus, every marshal is being given free entry to the SuperSpecials and the Service Park during Wales Rally GB - another completely new initiative for 2004.

“We are always looking at ways to enhance Wales Rally GB for everyone who takes part behind the scenes as well as centre stage” confirmed Andrew Coe. “Only with the continued support of the marshals, volunteers and motor sports club will we be able to secure the future of Wales Rally GB as a world class event."
