SILVERSTONE PRACTICE & QUALIFYING (Friday)
There is simply not enough free practice time in this Championship to test and set-up the car plus test tyres! Just a total of two hours.
Yesterday's 1 ¼ hour free practice was hampered by an electrical misfire related to coils. This morning it re-appeared at the end of the session; we had no problem at Le Mans so we changed everything back to how it was then and cured the problem for the qualifying sessions.
Justin used both sets of tyres in the first qualifying session and was 9th fastest. At every stop adjustments and improvements were made to the car and Justin was going faster each time he went out - he is still exploring the capabilities of the Storm. There is more time to come from both him and the car.
The second qualifying with another change to the set up and old tyres - Justin set a good time but had a spin. Rob got in the car but after 4 laps reported problems with no electrics - this was later traced to a wire being loose - probably dislodged in the spin.
Comparing all the lap times of the other cars (when not setting qualifying laps), both our drivers were on the pace today and we expect to have a competitive race pace tomorrow.
Race starts Saturday at 2pm - live on Motors TV.
