Lando Norris has one eye on the title as proceedings get back underway in the MSA Formula Championship this weekend.
The 15-year-old Carlin driver sits comfortably in second place after results from Croft were amended last month following Ticktum’s exclusion for colliding with him in the first race.
Although the Bristol racer still loses out on the points he would have won for finishing first, he was awarded second place instead of third in the final race - boosting his points tally overall.
Now he heads to Snetterton at the half-way stage of the competition in an enviable position, hoping to hit the ground running again and close the gap on leader Ricky Collard.
The ADD Motorsports-supported racer said: “I’m really looking forward to racing in the Championship again. We’ve had six weeks off now, so I want to get back to winning ways at Snetterton as quickly as possible. We’re at the half-way stage and it’s about keeping the concentration in each race and getting the points. If I can get some podiums and wins, hopefully I have a real chance of closing the gap on the leader.”
Lando was hit on the final corner of the first race at Croft, that not only denied him victory, but stopped him going top in the Championship.
After a double pole in qualifying and leading the entire first race, it was a cruel blow, but now he has put all that behind him and aims to get back to winning ways. He added: “There’s still five weekends and 15 races left, so a long way to go.
“I’ll just take each race as it comes and see where it leaves me.”
Racing takes place at Snetterton in Norfolk, on 8-9 August.
