(SPEEDWAY 1 - MONDAY REVIEW)

DARCY Ward broke the Wolverhampton track record and scored a paid maximum as Swindon collected another four-point haul at Monmore Green to move into the Elite League’s top four. The Robins, who had won by twelve points in the Black Country a fortnight ago, collected a 52-38 victory on this occasion for their third away win in their last four matches on the road.Ward took two-tenths of a second off Tai Woffinden’s record in Heat 1 and then completed his maximum by passing Freddie Lindgren in Heat 15, and he received good backing from guest Chris Harris (11) and skipper Troy Batchelor (10), whilst Wolves reserve Lewis Blackbird scored 10+1 after colleague Josh Bates had been ruled out with shoulder damage from a Heat 2 crash.Swindon boss Alun Rossiter said: “It was an excellent performance, everyone did their job. Darcy and Troy were superb, Zengi (Grzegorz Zengota) did a great job again and Chris proved an excellent choice of guest.“It was a strong performance all the way through, we led for almost the whole meeting and came away with four big points, so it was a really good night for us to keep us on track for the play-offs.”Wolves promoter Chris Van Straaten said: “The entertainment was first class, there was some great racing for the neutral supporter, but the result was dreadful it has to be said.“I won’t accept that the effort and spirit wasn’t there because it was, they rode their socks off tonight, but they just aren’t good enough and that showed against a very strong Swindon side.”Belle Vue also moved up the table into third place with a 52-41 home win over Lakeside, leaving King’s Lynn out of the play-off places.Max Fricke led a strong Aces showing with 11+1 whilst guest Dakota North piled up 15+1 for the Hammers.Belle Vue boss Mark Lemon said: “It was another solid performance from the boys tonight to come away with the win. Everyone did their job and dug deep and as a manager I can't ask for anything more than that.“I guess you can get a bit carried away with yourselves especially with the way things have been going for us lately but an 11-point win on the night is a fantastic achievement.”In the City Gearboxes National League, Kent pulled off a 47-45 home win over Buxton despite trailing by 11 points after the first five races.Hitmen No.1 Liam Carr became the first rider to beat home skipper Ben Morley in Heat 15, but Morley and James Shanes packed in for a 3-3 ahead of Ryan Blacklock to secure the Kings’ win, with the visitors taking a league point.Buxton boss Jason Pipe said: “I don’t know where to start with this one. It was set-ups again – I’ve said to the guys that they shouldn’t complain about tracks becoming slick at the end of the meeting, they should have enough experience to vary the bike set-up to compensate. “I gathered the whole team together at the interval when the Kings had just pulled level and asked for a response and we just fell short. “Liam has ridden like a No.1 tonight, Steve (Jones) scored a solid seven, and nine points from the reserves so there are some positives.”(SPEEDWAY 2 - TUESDAY PREVIEW)

SOMERSET host Premier League leaders Edinburgh in the first clash this season of the Grand Finalists from the last two years. The reigning champions top the table after away wins at Rye House and Peterborough over the weekend, whilst the Rebels also hold a comfortable position in the play-off places and can climb to third place with a win.Somerset boss Garry May said: “The past few seasons have seen us have some epic battles against Edinburgh and I am sure that Tuesday night’s match will prove to be no different.“I am sure that many people are looking forward to watching Brady Kurtz's races with Craig Cook which promises to be something special.“Edinburgh come to the Oaktree Arena in a rich vein of form, but the Somerset boys are well up for this meeting, they know that it will quite probably be our toughest match to date this year, but I am sure we will rise to the occasion to take the win and the three league points on offer.“As well as battling for precious Premier League points, our two league matches against Edinburgh will also decide the destiny of the Premier Shield, of which Somerset are the current holders, with the Shield going to the side who wins on aggregate over the course of the two matches concerned.”Somerset have slashed admission prices to £10 for all adults for the televised fixture, with under-18s going free.
