"It’s awesome to be back racing with my little brother," said Chesson, driver of the No. 76 Mo Nunn Racing entry. "James has been so supportive this year as I embarked on this new adventure with Kathryn and Mo Nunn Racing. Beyond the thrill of competing again together, it will be great to have a teammate that I can work together with out there on the track."
After earning two victories in only five starts in the Menards Infiniti Pro Series, P.J. Chesson is excited at the opportunity to make this a family affair.
"To be honest, I never had any intention of racing this year, but after watching P.J. over the last five races and seeing the success that the team has enjoyed, I got the itch to get back on track," said Chesson. "I’ve truly enjoyed the chance to get to know both Kathryn and Morris (Nunn) and jumped at the opportunity to be a part of such a professional team and organization. I’m pumped to go racing again with my brother. If it wasn’t for him, I would not be back out there this year."
After taking some time off from racing, Chesson did not have any immediate plans to return to the track this season.
Chesson, 23, became involved in racing at an early age and raced in the USAC Sprint and Midget Series, before following his brother’s footsteps into the World of Outlaws. The New Jersey native most recently earned podium finishes at Phoenix International Raceway and Indianapolis Raceway Park, on the way to be being voted the 2002 National Midget Rookie of the Year.
"We're so excited to be in a position to expand our young program," said team owner/manager Kathryn Nunn. "As we looked to the future, this was the next logical step. We’ve had the pleasure of getting to know James quite well over the last few months and are thrilled to have him join the team. Both brothers have uniquely different personalities, but are equally colorful both on and off the track."
Chesson, who will drive the No. 67 Mo Nunn Racing Dallara/Infiniti/Firestone, turned his first laps in a Menards Infiniti Pro Series car Aug. 16 at Kentucky Speedway.
INDIANAPOLIS, Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004 – James Chesson will join his brother P.J. in the IRL Menards Infiniti Pro Series™, as Mo Nunn Racing will enter a second car in the series beginning with the Chicagoland 100 on Sept. 11, Nunn Motorsports Inc. announced Aug. 17.
