BERWICK have announced the signing of Anders Mellgren to replace Alex Edberg for the closing weeks of the Premier League season.Mellgren joins the Bandits after racing for Rye House through the year so far, although they will still be unable to track a full line-up as Swedish rider Mathias Thornblom has retuned home following a knock to his neck at Scunthorpe on Friday.Berwick boss John Anderson said: “Alex has been a loyal servant to Berwick over the years. “However, we badly need a win to boost both morale and attendance, and the promotion of the club has decided on bringing Anders up here, subject to official BSPA approval of course, for the last five fixtures in our schedule to beef up the squad and hopefully put a smile back on a few long faces.”

RYE House Speedway have announced the departure of Andrew Silver from the club. The former England international had been heading the National League operation at Hoddesdon and running the track’s training schools. Current Rockets boss John Sampford is to take charge of the Raiders except on the occasions when there are fixture clashes. The Rye House statement reads: “We would obviously like to thank Andrew for his contribution to the club in what is already building to be a memorable season for the Raiders, and to wish him all the best for the future.“However, the relationship between the two parties has come to a point where the time is right for us to go our separate ways.“We will now focus on the important fixtures that lie ahead for both Rye House teams in what is now the business end of the season, as well as on building towards the longer term future of the club.”
