AmDTuning chases points as BTCC heads for Rockingham

•West Thurrock team back to full strength for eighth round of 2015•Mike Bushell chasing second Jack Sears Trophy win in three meetings•Nicolas Hamilton returns to action for third meeting of BTCC career

The AmDTuning.com team will hope to build on the pace it has shown in recent events when the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship heads for Rockingham this weekend for the eighth round of the year. Reigning Clio Cup champion Mike Bushell will be chasing points for the third successive meeting at the wheel of his Ford Focus, while Nicolas Hamilton will be eager to make forward progress as he returns to action for his third meeting in the team’s Audi S3. Mike makes the trip to the Northamptonshire circuit seeking to replicate the speed he has shown in the two meetings since the summer break; which included a maiden top ten finish and a Jack Sears Trophy success at Snetterton. Last time out, Mike once again showed his ability to match the pace of the BTCC’s front-runners only for a fuel pump issue on race day to restrict him to a single points finish at Knockhill. Having enjoyed success at Rockingham in the past, with a pole position and two wins last year en-route to the Clio title, Mike heads for Corby keen to challenge for a hat-trick of points for the first time in his BTCC career, with a third Jack Sears Trophy - for best performing rookie - also high on the agenda.“Last season I had a fantastic weekend at Rockingham and it would be good if I can have a strong one again this time around,” he said. "Hopefully we can once again show the speed we displayed at the start of the weekend at both Snetterton and Knockhill and make sure we carry it through to race day to challenge for some strong points. "While the fuel pump issue we had last time was frustrating as we missed out some good points, the way we fought through the field from the back in race three alongside people like Colin Turkington and Tom Ingram was really encouraging.“Rockingham is a circuit where anything can happen, especially on the long run down to the hairpin on the opening lap. We’ll look to stay out of any trouble and push hard to try and pick up points in every race and fight for the Jack Sears Trophy again. Without the problems at Knockhill, we could have won it there, but hopefully this weekend we can add to the trophies we’ve won already this season and come away with some silverware.”With Knockhill not part of his five event programme, Nicolas returns to action in the team’s second car eager to bounce back from a challenging weekend at Snetterton last month. Having enjoyed a solid debut in the series at Croft prior to the summer break, the Norfolk meeting proved to be more difficult for the first disabled driver in series history - with an incident in the opening race preventing him from building on what had been an encouraging start to the weekend. Despite that, Nicolas fought back to pick up his best result to date in the second race at Snetterton and, with the car fully now fully repaired, the 23-year-old will now hope to make further progress this weekend as he continues with his touring car education.“We’re pleased to be back at full-strength this weekend and are optimistic that both Mike and Nicolas can enjoy strong weekends on track,” team boss Shaun Hollamby said. "Mike has shown good pace all season in the Focus, especially in recent rounds, and hopefully that will continue this weekend. He just needs some luck on his side after the problem in Scotland and has shown what he can do around Rockingham in the past, so we’re confident of some good points from his side of the garage.“For Nicolas, the weekend is all about continuing with the progress he has made so far. He took a big step forward between Croft and Snetterton in his performance, so hopefully he can do similar this weekend and keep pushing forwards into the pack. If he can qualify inside the top 25 and take three solid finishes then we’ll be happy.”
