Mortimer to make Carrera Cup debut

Team RPM will field three cars in the next rounds of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Snetterton as young Alex Mortimer joins Tim Harvey and Eddie Wighton in the squad. Alex, son of team boss Robin Mortimer, is having a superb season in the Radical Biduro Championship and is eager to make his Carrera Cup debut over the weekend of 4/5 September.Alex, who is studying law at Birmingham University, is targeting international sportscars racing for the future and will sample the Carrera Cup GB as he evaluates options for 2005. After Snetterton, he will continue his bid to win the Radical title, which he currently leads after a impressive sequence of victories."He's only driven a Carrera Cup car once at Snetterton, but he took to it like a duck to water," says Mortimer senior. "But I'm not expecting him to be a top six runner at this point as it is a massively different car to anything he's ever driven. As an experience builder it will very valuable!"While Harvey continues his bid to win the Carrera Cup title, Scotsman Eddie Wighton will also rejoin the RPM squad for the final two races of the season having run well at Croft and Knockhill.
