Spedeworth South will bring a bolt of summer lightning to Bovingdon Raceway on Sunday, September 5th at 1.30pm when the big and brutal Lightning Rods take to the track to contest the Hertfordshire Championship.
The Sierra based Lightning Rods are incredibly quick around Bovingdon, where the cars sheer bulk and power leads to a tight pack of bumper-to-bumper racing throughout the day. The Rods are a non-contact formula so the drivers have to navigate their way around the circuit with just inches between each car and the very unforgiving safety fence. This is not racing for the faint hearted and anyone visiting the track to see them in full throttle pursuit of the Hertfordshire Championship will see why these cars have earned the title 'Frightening Rods.'
Contact is the name of the game for the Rookie Bangers a formula that are really at home at Bovingdon, where consistently large grids of cars and amnesia when it comes to the "light contact" rule means a great day's racing is in store for fans of crash and bash racing.
There will be more metal bending racing on offer when the 1300cc Stock Cars take to the track. These heavily armoured cars can move as fast as some of the non-contact formulae, but their front bumpers are always put to good use as driving through, rather than around, the opposition is the favoured option for the drivers.
Spinning and barging the way through to the front of the pack is not an option for the non-contact Rookie Rods. These budget racers always provide close racing action at Bovingdon as the drivers attempt to take the chequered flag without falling prey to the safety fence.
With the Rookie Bangers, Rookie Rods, Stock Cars and he chance to see the all-action Lightning Rods Hertfordshire Championship, free parking, and a great view of all the action from high-banked spectator areas, Bovingdon (situated off B4005 Bovingdon, Nr Hemel Hempstead, Herts, on the airfield complex) will provide a value for money action packed day's racing when the green flag waves on September 5th
