Moving up a class from his Saturday race to Sunday's, RonCapps started 14th -- dead last -- didn't put a wheel wrong, and just missed making the podium.
On his way to fourth place, Capps put up the fourth-fastest race lap.Saturday, Capps won his first ever road race, leading flag-to-flag on his way to first place in the Sportsman (rookie) group of the Skip Barber Formula Dodge Race Series; for Sunday's second race, he volunteered to move up to the Expert class (one below the fastest group of drivers,Championship).
''Man, this was fantastic,'' Capps said. ''During the first lap today, I realized these guys play hardball -- fair, but definitely for keeps. I just said to myself, 'I've got to assert myself, be aggressive, or else I'm going to get hurt!' All the drivers, all the coaches were great, this is a really good system they got going here. I really do want to come back. I'm glad my boss Don [Prudhomme], lets me do other things besides drive for his Skoal team.''
