TV breakthrough for BTCC
BARB (Broadcasters’ Audience Research Board) figures show ITV1’s liveBTCC coverage from Knockhill was the top-rated motor sport programmeshown that week. It was also the second highest-rated live eventprogramme of the week, beaten only by football’s FA Community Shield. Itis the first time that the BTCC has made it into the top ten sportsprogrammes. In total, 1.1 million people tuned in to ITV1 to watch theaction from race two. Combined with race three’s viewing figure, the BTCCattracted an audience in excess of two million on the day.

'HUFFY' ON THE BOXITV and BBC’s regional television outlets, Anglia and Look East, arescheduled to feature SEAT Sport UK driver Robert Huff in previews toSnetterton’s BTCC action this weekend. Anglia, which broadcasts to overfour million viewers, will be at the circuit on Friday to interview Cambridgebased Huff, who will arrive at his home circuit off the back of his first BTCC race win at Brands Hatch ten days ago.

In addition, full-page colour advertisements have appeared in recent editions of Maxim, Men’s Fitness, EVO, Bizarre and Auto Express promoting up-coming BTCC meetings – all titles are part of the Dennis Publishing group. Maxim is also scheduled to feature a BTCC season review in the coming months.
THOMMO’S DRIVING TIPSMultiple BTCC title-winning team Vauxhall is scheduled to be featured inSoccer AM’s Allsport evening show on satellite television channel SkySports One next Friday 10 September. The show reportedly attractsaudiences of 2.5 million plus. The feature is the first of two filmed atSnetterton last week and in it driver and former BTCC champion JamesThompson gives viewers tips on car control and driving techniques withthe help of in-car footage. The second feature – to be shown the following week – goes behind-the-scenes with Vauxhall to find out just what it takes to be part of a title-winning team.
