George Russell gets his maiden F1 Test

F1 Test An Honour Says Russell

Having become the youngest ever winner of the McLaren Young Driver Award, last week George Russell was awarded his first ever F1 test. "It was an absolute honour to get my first ever test in Formula 1, with McLaren. One of, if not the most prestigious team on the grid.

F1 has always what I've dreamed of and to get the chance to have a taste of an F1 car so early in my career was incredible."

Following his rookie year in F3 it George relished the chance to get behind the wheel of an F1 car ahead of the year's final race in Macau.

"The speed, grip and brakes on the car were extremely impressive but I was really happy with myself how quickly I managed to get used to it and really start to push on and get the car on the limit. It was an unbelievable feeling, getting the chance to put an F1 car on the limit and I'll be pushing hard now to make sure this is just the first of many."

McLaren's demo and heritage manager Indy Lall added: "It's all gone very well.

"He was a little bit nervous as the time came to first go out [for an installation lap], but he quickly got comfortable.

"His feedback was good. It was key for him to notice that it was too pointy so we changed the set-up."
